"My history with Jordan Jones reaches as far back as the late 90's. We are both graduates of Batavia High School and played with many of the same musicians in that scene during that time. Close to 10 years would pass before we reunited in Buffalo to start work on a collaborative project called RACKAMASTAs, a reference to working the wine racks at Gates Circle Wine and Liquor. Every Wednesday weʼd spend the morning unloading the delivery trucks and by 5pm weʼd taste some wine or scotch or whiskey that was in consideration for addition to the store inventory (perks of the job). With that light evening buzz, weʼd descend on Steak & Cake Studios to create some deconstructive instrumental jams. The process involved a one mic, live recording of us both playing the same drum at once, an approach that would thread through our work together. Most of the guitar work was carved out of much longer takes, and looped or trimmed to form sections. There are guest appearances from NYBRKFST bassist Brad Kujawski as well as Mechatama bassist Steven Szopinski. The saxophone was a final, last minute addition, masterfully played by Chris Svoboda. Those takes were tracked in an hour and a half with Svoboda taking a few abstract directions and then improvising solos throughout."
