On March 21st, 2011 I met with Julie Molloy for coffee and we discussed an idea I had for a project called DeadMeat.* Found sound is the concept of weaving together random organic noise into a structured piece; it’s something I’ve always wanted to try and Julie was gracious enough to offer her house as the trial run. We recorded squeaky drawers, leaky faucets, boiling grease among other things. Having captured about 50 bits of noise I went home and carved out 5 songs. I topped a few with some whistling or a little muffled accordion but they are mostly combs, scissors, cap-guns and speech. Considering the nature of this piece, it’s not going to be for everyone. But perhaps your interest is peaked and the novelty alone will entertain you.
